Two Year 11 boys, Luke Eccles and James Beardsworth, have been
selected for the national U16s' Independent Schools' Football
Association (ISFA) team.
The two boys have made it into the England squad which comprises
the best players from the country's independent schools. Initially
they represented the North of England ISFA team in a number of
trial games, where they beat Bolton Wanderers' Academy 4-3 and the
South of England ISFA team 2-1, whilst losing out 4-3 to
Leicestershire Schools. Excellent performances from the
lads saw them selected for the national side.
The boys' first game was against Shropshire Schools, which they
won 6-2. Luke played at centre-half and James played on the left of
midfield, even though he is really a striker.
The boys are now looking forward to a tour of Portugal with the
England team.
