Bolton School U13s football team has won the Rensburg Sheppards
Independent Schools' Football Association (ISFA) Cup, beating
Forest School from London, 2-1.
The final, which took place on Thursday 4 March at Burton Albion
FC's ground, proved a nervy affair. Bolton had secured a 2-0
lead by half-time with goals from Harry Stevenson and Nat Phillips
and it could easily have been three or four. However, their
dominance waned in the second half and Forest pulled a goal back
with 10 minutes to go. It made for a tense last few minutes
and there were some tired Bolton legs on this full size pitch but
the boys held out for a deserved victory.
Coach, Dr Fraser Mullins, said: "This has been a tremendous team
effort and over the course of the tournament we have had to count
on each of the sixteen boys in the squad; they can be incredibly
proud of themselves. Today will have no doubt provided them
with a lifelong memory. It is certainly good preparation for
our forthcoming tour to The Netherlands when we will play the Ajax
On their way to the final, the team had scored 28 goals and
conceded none, beating King's Chester and The Grammar School at
Leeds 6-0 and QEGS Blackburn 10-0 before beating Millfield Prep 6-0
in the Semi-Final.
The team was well supported on the day by the whole of Year 8
and approximately 40 parents.
