"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

Old Boltonians in Sport Power 100 List

Friday, 20 April 2012

Two Old Boys from Bolton School are in this year's Sport Power 100 list, which is compiled by The Times, Sports Newspaper of the Year.

At number 40 is Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Association.  Sir Philip was recently at the School, along with his friend and colleague Lord Sebastian Coe (who was ranked at number 1 in the list) in their only pre-Games visit to the North-West.  They were part of a panel that discussed the Olympic and Paralympic legacy for this part of the country.

Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the Lawn Tennis Association and a former Bolton School pupil, is ranked at number 99 in the list.  The table is compiled by a panel of Times sports writers.

Also, in the list is Phil Gartside, Chairman of Bolton Wanderers (ranked at number 59).
