23-year-old medical student Ed was introduced to the sport at
Bolton School and is now first choice Goalkeeper for the Great
Britain Water Polo squad. The GB team will take part in the
London 2012 Olympic Games after an absence of British Water Polo
from the Olympics for 56 years.
Ed said: "Preparations are going well and we're looking to put in
some big performances in London. We know we are not among the
favourites but with a home crowd behind us, then hopefully we can
pull off a shock or two."
Ed is not the only one whose early experiences of Water Polo at
Bolton School have led to a place in the national squad. Rick
Lawlor is also a member of the current squad and Rob Rae, Andrew
Crawford, and Charles Booth have all held places in the team.
