Bolton School Old Boy Neil Eckersley is set to produce a British version of the Broadway hit musical Wonderland. Following sold out international seasons in Tampa, Texas and Tokyo, this magical musical will tour the UK and Europe in Neil’s new production. Lauded by The New York Times as “inspirational”, Wonderland will open at the prestigious Edinburgh Playhouse from 20th to 28th January 2017 ahead of an extensive UK tour which includes a run at The Palace Theatre Manchester from 24-29 April.
The musical is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and through a mother and daughter story explores who we are, who we want to be and the power of everyday magic. Enchanting and littered with catchy songs, the musical has benefited from lyrics by Jack Murphy and music from multi Grammy, Tony and Drama Desk Award nominated Frank Wildhorn, writer of pop hits including Whitney Houston’s “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?” and the theatre classic “This is the Moment” from the international success Jekyll and Hyde.
The first half of the British 2017 tour dates can be found here, with further dates to be announced for the early Summer of 2017. You can visit the Wonderland website here.
In June 2016, Neil will also be producing legendary Broadway star Bernadette Peters in her first UK concerts in seventeen years! The double Tony, triple Drama Desk and Golden Globe Award winning Broadway star will perform signature songs from some of the shows in which she has played her most iconic roles, including Gypsy, Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George. She will play the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Opera House in Manchester and the Edinburgh Playhouse. Full tour dates and details can be found here.
