Old Boys' Golf Provides Bursary Boost
Thursday, 07 October 2010
Old Boltonians and friends enjoyed some sublime weather as they played out their annual President's Golf Day at Bolton Golf Club. Sixteen teams took part in this year's fundraiser and over £3,000 was raised for the School's Bursary Fund. Each team paid an entry fee to the competition and the money raised is further boosted by sponsors, advertisers and donors of prizes.
Since the first Golf Day in 2006, more than £20,000 has been raised by the Old Boys, which goes towards paying the fees for the next generation of deserving pupils.
Last year, over £1.8m was spent on bursaries at the School and over 300 pupils currently receive fee assistance; of these, over 100 pupils study for free.
