An open day at Patterdale Hall, the School’s residential and adventure learning centre on the southern shores of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District, drew in large crowds from across the North.
Hundreds of adults and children enjoyed tours of the Hall and its extensive grounds and sampled a range of exciting activities, including kayaking, canoeing, archery, fire lighting, orienteering and a low ropes challenge. Whilst some pupils used the opportunity to proudly show their parents where they spend several days each year undertaking a whole range of outdoor pursuits and learning activities, adults considered the centre as a possible family party or wedding venue. Teachers from other schools and business people also considered the centre as a venue for outdoor adventures, conferences or corporate bonding and team building activities. They also learnt about hiring out the School’s own yacht, Tenacity of Bolton, for exciting sailing adventures around the British coast.
Enquirers got to see where groups undertake gorge walking, rock-climbing, abseiling, camping and sailing activities as they enjoyed short local walks up to Lanty’s Tarn, which afforded breathtaking views over Lake Ullswater.
Patterdale lived up to its reputation for great food with a tasty barbeque lunch and delicious Patterdale Cream Teas.
