"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

Pupils Raise £2,000 for Buskaid

Tuesday, 06 July 2010

Pupils from Bolton School Boys' Division handed over a cheque for £2,000 to members of the Halle Orchestra, who are collecting for Buskaid, a charity which helps young black musicians in South African townships.  The money was raised through the School's Battle of the Bands competition.

Sue Voysey, a fundraiser from the Halle said: "Members of the Halle Orchestra are supporting Buskaid to honour the memory of Mike and Dot Hall, who died in a tragic climbing accident.  As a result of Bolton School's contribution we are now able to send a cello to Buskaid alongside the three violins we have already sent.  We are very touched that Mike's old school has become involved in the campaign and we are here today to say thank you so much to the boys."

The orchestra members and fundraisers pictured are: Sue Voysey, Becky Harney and Caroline Abbot (Simon Turner also belongs to the group but was absent).
