Pupil’s National Road Relay Success

Monday, 10 October 2016

Year 8 pupil Matthew Mair competed in the National Road Relay Championships at Sutton Coldfield. This was a big competition with 66 teams representing clubs from all over the country.

He and his team won their place in the competition after taking a podium position in the Northern Road Relay Championships, where they ran against teams from across the North of England and finished the race just 6 seconds behind the winners.

At the national competition, on a hilly 3.4km route, Matthew was in a team of three U13 runners from Horwich Harriers. All the boys ran great races, with Matthew running the final leg and bringing the team home in fourth place overall. This was a wonderful achievement for the whole team.
