Record Number of Enquirers at Open Morning
Thursday, 17 October 2013
This year's Open Morning was one of the busiest ever with a record number of enquirers creating a great buzz around the campus. Hundreds of families visited the co-educational Nursery and Infant School, the Junior Girls' and Junior Boys' Schools, the Senior Girls' and Senior Boys' Schools and the brand new £7m Riley Sixth Form Centre. Families came from Bolton, Bury, Preston, Rochdale, Oldham, Warrington, North Manchester and Wigan with some travelling from as far afield as Ormskirk, Blackpool, the Ribble Valley and South Manchester.
There were many engaging and interactive sessions in classrooms and labs. The Headteachers all gave well attended presentations about their schools and were, in many cases, assisted by pupils who also spoke about their love of Bolton School. Alumni and Parents' Associations of the School were also on hand to offer their reflections on the School. There was an MFL European Cafe on the second floor of The Riley Centre with students waiting on the tables, and IT demonstrations taking place on the top floor. The School's joint bands including the Jazz band and the Samba band, along with solo performers, provided a musical backdrop to the day.
Outdoor pursuits staff, including those from Patterdale Hall and the School's sailing boat, Tenacity of Bolton, were also on hand and the more energetic could try their hand at climbing and go karting. Competitive Football, Rugby and Netball matches were taking place on the School fields. Visitors were given guided tours by pupils where they met subject teachers in classrooms and learnt about all the extra-curricular activities that are on offer.
