"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Runners-up in National Toyota Technology Challenge

Wednesday, 30 May 2012

A team of Bolton School boys were runners-up in the National Final of the Toyota Technology Challenge!

Nearly 400 schools entered Toyota's robotic design competition nationally and the boys won the north regional final at the National Railway Museum in York to get them to the National Final at Toyota UK HQ at Burnaston, Derby.

The team, consisting of year 8 boys Arron Davies and Amartya Vadlamani, and year 7 boys Shubham Jain, Akshay Pal and Charlie Heron, built a small robot called 'Edge-Hog. The robot had to navigate its own way around an obstacle course in the shortest time possible.  The team gained points for this technical achievement and also for showing a high level of environmental awareness in the design of the 'Edge-Hog, and for presenting a strong team image.
