School Hosts Annual U15 Rugby 7s Tournament

Thursday, 19 March 2015

The Boys’ Division welcomed seven rival school teams to the Levels for the second annual U15 Rugby Sevens Tournament.

AKS were crowned the winners overall, beating Audenshaw 31-19 in the Cup Final. Merchant Taylors played against Kirby Lonsdale in the Plate Final, with Merchant’s finally taking the trophy with a score of 19-5.

There was some impressive and dramatic rugby played throughout the day. All of the games provided a great challenge for all of the teams involved.

The event involved schools from across the North West. In addition to those who made it to the Cup and Plate finals, teams from Kirkham, Hutton and Rivington also joined the competition, as did three Bolton School teams.

Bolton School’s A Team made it to the semi-finals for the Cup, but despite a high standard of play unfortunately lost to Cup Final winners AKS. There was also a Bolton School presence in the Plate competition: the Bolton School B Team played against Kirby Lonsdale in the semi-finals, but did not make it through to the final on this occasion. The Bolton School C Team was defeated by the Rivington side in the Bowl Final.
