"Hesketh House (Junior Girls' School) is a magical place of adventure, discovery, learning, friendship and joy. The girls, albeit within a modern, disciplined, hard-working atmosphere, appear each evening as though sprinkled in fairy dust."

School Supports Manchester Business Success Stories

Thursday, 06 November 2014

Bolton School was delighted to sponsor the Young Business of the Year category at this year’s Manchester Evening News Business Awards. There were over 100 entries to the awards as a whole and three companies were shortlisted to the final in the Young Business section: Prymo Surface Solutions, The Market Creative and Fabulous Fan Fayre. MEN Head of Business, Adam Jupp said: “It was a tough task to come up with the shortlists and an even tougher one to pick the winners.” The award, the first on the night, was delivered by Headmaster Mr Philip Britton who announced the winner as being Prymo Surface Solutions.

The glitzy evening took place at The Midland Hotel in Manchester and teachers and staff from the School attended the event as well as staff from BSS Leisure, BSS Weddings and Patterdale Hall. Over 300 guests from the Greater Manchester business community were in attendance.

Nicholas Owen, news presenter and journalist, was host for the evening and Dave Fishwick of “Bank of Dave” tv notoriety provided an inspirational keynote address.  His two key takeaway points were never lose money and never, ever give up!

Other winners on the night were: Lancashire County Cricket Club who were given a special award for their contribution to the Greater Manchester economy; Boohoo.com, who won the prize for a business with a turnover of over £100m (sponsored by PwC); Missguided won the £50m-£100 turnover category (sponsored by Robert Walters); Character World the £25m-£50m category (sponsored by Hill Dickinson); UK Fast won the £10m-£25m category (sponsored by QBE); and The Flava People won the turnover up to £10m category. The Awards Evening itself celebrated its 21st birthday on the night!
