School to hold Centenary Ball with Help of 100 Club
Wednesday, 23 March 2016
This Summer Bolton School will hold a Centenary Ball that brings to a close celebrations that have been taking place since March last year. Over the 2015-16 period, the Foundation has marked 100 years of its existence and 500 years of education in Bolton. Up to 500 members of the School community will gather for a final celebration at the Macron Stadium Premier Suite on Saturday 25 June for the Centenary Ball. The evening also presents an opportunity for Bolton-based businesses to affiliate with the School as it recruits “100 Club” members at a cost of £100 or £500 each. Membership buys companies exclusive sponsorship rights and other benefits.
The occasion will bring together alumni, parents, former parents, staff and friends of the School and any funds raised on the evening will go to the Bolton School 100 Campaign for Bursaries. The School is working hard to fulfil its vision of any talented child being able to attend the School, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay the fees.
Throughout the last 12 months various Centenary celebrations have taken place to mark the 100 and 500 year anniversaries including reunions, concerts, lectures and sporting events. In 2015 it was 100 years since Viscount Leverhulme brought together Bolton Grammar School for Boys with the Bolton High School for Girls to form Bolton School (Boys’ Division and Girls’ Division). The 500 year anniversary celebrates the Boys’ Division being able to trace its origins back to at least 1516.
