Sir Philip Craven Takes Over OBA Presidency
Friday, 12 December 2014
The annual Old Boys’ Association Dinner was held in fine style in the Boys’ Division Great Hall with over a hundred alumni in attendance. As well as reminiscing on their schooldays, the Old Boys gathered to ring out the old and ring in the new with the handing over of the Presidency.
Sir Philip Craven now has taken over the role from Peter Leather. During his acceptance speech, he spoke of his fond memories attending the School from 1961 to 1969. He also briefly talked about his career, which has taken him all over the world both as a Paralympian and in his current role as President of the International Paralympic Committee.
Sir Philip has been appointed for a period of two years to cover the forthcoming 100/500 Anniversary Celebrations. Previous OBA President Peter Leather will act as his Vice President, along with Irfan Ravat.
2015 will mark the centenary of the Bolton School Foundation, and 2016 is the 500th anniversary of education in Bolton. Various events are being planned by the School to commemorate these occasions, and Alumni are warmly invited to celebrate alongside current pupils and members of staff.
