Town Trophies for Junior and Intermediate Swimmers

The Boys’ Division Junior (Year 7-8) and Intermediate (Year 9-10) Swimming Teams recently took part in the Bolton Town Championships – and have retained their titles and trophies for another year!

The competition took place at Bolton One with boys entered individual 50m races in backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle, and two 100m team relays: the individual medley and the freestyle. The Junior team was made up of Year 8 pupils Gareth Edwards-Williams, Tobias Ramwell, Guy Storey, Ben Turner. Swimming on the Intermediate team were Year 10s Andrew Mattison, Callum Pritchard, Thomas Stephenson, Oscar Swift.

The boys swam extremely well throughout the competition, and both teams came in first place. The Intermediate Team gained a total of 58 points to beat both Turton (53) and Canon Slade (44).The Junior team won with 59 points, with Canon Slade (52) in second place and St Joseph’s (47) in third.

A team of sixteen Girls’ Division pupils also took part in the Town Championship at Junior and Intermediate level. The girls did very well: all of them finished in the top four of every event, and the Intermediate freestyle relay team came first their race. The Girls’ Division teams finished in second place overall in the girls’ Junior and Intermediate competitions.
