U13 Boys in Thrilling Water-Polo Final

Year 8 boys took part in the prestigious President's Trophy water polo tournament at the weekend. The team made a great start to the cup by winning the group stages of this national knockout, beating every team along the way. In the semi-final the boys won convincingly, which set up a final against King Edward's School, Birmingham, whom they had already beaten in the group stages!

In the final, the U13s had a terrific start going 2-0 up within minutes, only to be pegged back to 2-1 at half time. However, in the second half, the boys let their form drop, and a couple of costly mistakes meant the game finished 4-2 to King Edward's.

Coaches Mr Howard and Mr Windsor said: "It was a tremendous effort from all of the boys to get as far as the final.  The lads were a bit upset at losing at the final hurdle, especially seeing as we had already beaten KES in the group stages, but we were extremely proud of our Year 8s for getting that far."

Last year, an U13 team from Bolton School ran out winners.
