"The best thing I can say of the school was that it worked. It embedded in me habits of reading and thinking as well as an enduring curiosity about just about everything."

U13s in Quarter Final of National Football Cup

Wednesday, 02 December 2015

The Boys' Division's U13 football team has made it through to the quarter finals of the Independent Schools' Football Association (ISFA) Cup, where, on Tuesday 8 December, they will meet local rivals Bury Grammar School.

Earlier in the competition, the Bolton side overcame The Grange 9-1 in Round 1 with goals from Hunter, Spencer-McDermott, Speakman, Goloba (2) and Williams-Denton (4). In Round 2 they beat Moorgate School, 4-3 on penalties after a 4-4 draw in which Goloba and Spencer-McDermott both netted twice. The Bolton boys overcame Priory School 4-2 in their last 16 fixture with goals from Johnson, Williams-Denton, Jackson and Diggle.

Their coach, Mr Johnson, said: "The lads have played some fantastic football over the recent months and deserve the opportunity of trying to get to the last four of a national competition. We are one of only 2 Northern teams left in the competition. We lost to Bury in a recent Saturday fixture so the boys will have to raise their game if they are to progress to the semi-final."
