U14s are Football Town Cup Winners

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

Bolton School Boys’ Division U14s’ football team has won the Town Cup after beating Rivington and Blackrod School 3-1 in the final and having overcome Thornleigh Salesian College in the semi-final.

Goalscorers on the night were Ben Sykes, Jay Harland and Jay Bromilow. Bromilow’s goal was his nineteenth of a prolific campaign. The U14s, in effect, have done the double following their AKS Lytham Tournament success last week. It’s a remarkable achievement as very few teams in the school win two trophies in a season. In the EFS Competition, a national one and the only other trophy which they could have won, they made it to the last 128 in the country (from over 1500 schools), which was no mean feat either. Their team spirit, willingness to work for each other and to play as a team have all been features of their hugely successful season.
