Tuesday, 03 February 2015

The U16 Water Polo team dominated the Championships with three strong wins, catapulting them forward into the national finals.

Eleven Boys’ Division pupils took part in the competition: Harrison Barker-Smith, Tom Daly, George Lilleywhite, Andy Mattison, Bill Moores, Jack Phillips, Will Plant, David Price, Alex Ramwell, Ben Ray and Kurtis Watson.

They played three games at the Championships and won 8-1 in their match facing Manchester Grammar School, 13-0 versus St Ambrose, and 10-3 against Warwick. There was a good performance by all eleven players on the day. The team’s coach Mr McGinty was particularly impressed with team captain David Price, George Lilleywhite, Ben Ray, and top scorer Will Plant who he also named Most Valuable Player. Goalkeeper Bill Moores also performed some excellent saves to keep their opponents’ scores down throughout the tournament.

The team is now looking forward to the national finals at Walsall Gala Baths on Saturday the 7th of March.
