We're Backing Bolton and Bury Business!
Tuesday, 15 February 2011
Bolton School is proud to be a sponsor of the prestigious Bolton and Bury Business Awards for the second year running.
The School will sponsor one of the new categories this year - We're backing Bolton and Bury - which recognises businesses which, through their success, have not only secured publicity and profit for themselves but have helped to raise the profile of the Bolton or Bury boroughs. There will be one award for Bolton and one for Bury.
This is the sixth year the awards have been held and is now one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in the local business calendar with over 600 business people attending last year. Local companies are being urged to enter to fly the flag for Bury and Bolton in the event, which recognises and rewards the achievements of companies in both towns. The awards are open to companies of all sizes and judges will be looking for businesses or individuals who make a vital contribution to the local economy. There are 11 award categories and judges will choose the overall winners from a shortlist of finalists in each category. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the De Vere Whites Hotel at the Reebok Stadium on Thursday 16 June where Steve Davis OBE will be the guest speaker.
Headmistress of Bolton School Girls' Division, Mrs Gill Richards, said: "Bolton School is, once again, delighted to be involved in the Bolton and Bury Business Awards and we are especially pleased to sponsor a new category this year. It is important to send out a strong and positive message in these straitened times and we will be looking to reward a company who, against the odds, have continued to prosper and, through their success, have continued to raise the profile of the whole borough.
Bolton School is very much an outward-looking school and we place a high premium on educating young people to be community-minded and to go out into the world to make a difference for good. Our existence has always been intrinsically linked with the local community and we engage with our neighbours in myriad ways; be it through inviting schools, pupils and local residents in to share our facilities and expertise or be it our own pupils going out into the community to offer their help and services and by raising significant funds for local charities. It is important to remain positive and to build for the future in these tough times and this is what we will be looking for in a company when we choose winners for the awards this year."
