Bolton School Senior Girls

Politics

Politics

Politics remains a popular A-level option. Younger pupils are invited to a weekly Politics Club and, in the past few years, we have welcomed the local Member of Parliament, and members of Bolton Youth Council to deliver talks.

We follow the AQA specification, in which pupils study British and American politics, as well as mainstream ideologies, including Conservatism, Liberalism, Socialism and Nationalism. We embark on an annual visit to Parliament, where we receive a guided tour, a workshop, and we make a short visit to the UK Supreme Court.

As Politics is taught in the History department, pupils from both subjects have participated in joint residential trips, including two to the United States of America and a residential trip to London (October 2019).
