Battle of the Bands Benefits Action for Children

Bolton School pupils handed over a cheque for £800 to Action for Children charity, which was raised at the Battle of the Bands Competition.

The winning band, Off Piste, presented the cheque to Action for Children representatives from Children’s Rights and Advocacy, Manager Ruth Gandy and Support Workers Chris Bailey and Simone Farrington. Action for Children, which has a Bolton branch, supports disadvantaged and vulnerable children in the community.

Off Piste are Year 10 pupils Christie O’Connell, George Rudd and Tom McNicholas. They competed against other bands of Bolton School pupils in a close competition, and were eventually awarded the worthy winners for their originality, stage presence and the fact that they felt like a unit and performed as such, as well as being entertaining.

Money raised on the day will be split between Action for Children and the Fabrice Muamba Defibrillator Fundraising Appeal.
