Bolton School to Host 'Antigone' Performance

Wednesday, 13 September 2017

  • Antigone Poster

The Classics department will host a new production of Antigone by the Actors of Dionysus on Wednesday 11 October at 7.30pm in the Girls’ Division Theatre. The performance for Bolton School pupils follows on from two sold-out night at The Lowry in Salford.

The Actors of Dionysus website describes this version of Antigone as a “blistering new adaptation [which] sees Sophocles’ tragedy reimagined in a dystopian landscape, where fate is written in code and where drones flock across the skies. Brought to life by innovative theatre company Actors of Dionysus, this production combines bold ideas with passionate and visceral physical theatre.”

Dr Emma Griffiths, Classics Lecturer at Manchester University, will deliver a pre-show talk at 6pm, which will be followed by refreshments.

The performance is a ticketed event, and tickets are available to Bolton School pupils free of charge. The booking deadline is 18 September.

Please contact Mrs G Ball (GBall@boltonschool.org) for further information and to reserve tickets.
