With snow lining the pavements and roofs along Coronation Street, tinsel in the Rovers Return Inn, and a Christmas tree outside Nick’s Bistro, the only thing missing in Weatherfield was carollers – a role that Bolton School girls were more than happy to fill!
Girls in Year 7 and in the Middle School and Senior School Choirs were invited to perform at the opening of the Coronation Street Tour’s ‘Christmas on the Cobbles’. The former Corrie set at Granada Studios on Quay Street has been transformed into a winter wonderland ready for the festive period, and the girls were some of the first to see the seasonal makeover.
The singers performed a medley of songs from Disney’s Frozen as well as rousing renditions of carols and other festive classics, while ‘snow’ drifted down from above. The music added the final touch to bring the Christmas atmosphere to life.
After their performance, the girls were treated to a full tour of the set, and were even able to experience Christmas in the Rovers Return for some photo opportunities!
Girls’ Division Headmistress Miss Sue Hincks said, “The girls were delighted to be involved in the event at Granada Studios and to see the set of their favourite soap for themselves.”
A choir of Boys’ Division pupils are also scheduled to perform at ‘Christmas on the Cobbles’ during the Twelve Days of Christmas to provide some extra festive cheer to the attraction’s guests.
