The annual Bolton School Family Fireworks Display lit up a mild November evening with bright lights and a friendly atmosphere.
A huge crowd gathered on the Girls’ Division netball courts in preparation for the fireworks display. Entertainment was provided by the Joint Jazz Band, conducted by Miss Berry. The upbeat music comprised of a medley of familiar tunes, performed to a very high standard, which kept toes tapping until it was time for the display to begin.
The Boys’ and Girls’ Senior and Junior Parents’ Associations had arranged various stalls offering a wide variety of treats, from sweets and cakes to purses and bags. There were also lots of fun games to play, including a tin can alley and a stall themed after the Minions from Despicable Me!
The Parents’ Associations also sold hot drinks, while in the Girls’ Division dining hall a selection of warming food was available.
Sixth Form Girls had put together their own stalls, supporting LivLife and the Imran Khan Foundation. They were also fundraising for upcoming World Challenge and Operation Wallacea excursions. The girls sold brownies, cookies, cakes, and even tubs of sweet popcorn to the crowd, as well as organising a game of Hook A Duck for children to play.
The display itself was spectacular, and delighted the assembled crowd with rockets, screamers, roman candles and many more. The dazzling display had everyone enthralled, from babies in prams to grandparents.
The netball courts were slow to empty as the evening drew to a close, with many families hanging back to play more games, peruse the stalls, and listen to one more song from the Joint Jazz Band.
