Ellie On Par for Golfing Success

Year 11 pupil Ellie Broome has been re-selected for the Cumbria County U18s Elite Golf squad for the 2015 season. She joined the squad last year after being invited to a Cumbria County training session based on her performance at the County Championships while playing for Kirby-Lonsdale Golf Club. She had been playing golf for just two years at the time.

Her continued excellent performance has earned her a spot on the squad for the second year running.

Last week, Ellie competed at the British Schools’ Northern Open competition at Fleetwood. This is an event organised by the Independent Schools’ Golf Association (ISGA). With a net score of 80, she came fourth in the girls’ gross section, and 28th of 38 in the overall gross section: both excellent achievements.

Ellie was also recently named Junior Captain at Kirby Lonsdale Golf Club, and is the first ever girl to hold this position. Despite the additional responsibility that comes with captaining the team, Ellie is excited to take on this new challenge and lead her team in competitions throughout the coming season.
