ESB Ambassador Role for Sharon
Monday, 11 May 2015
Year 8 pupil Sharon Daniel has been awarded the role of English Speaking Board (ESB) Ambassador for 2014-2015! The ESB is a national awarding organisation offering qualifications focused on communication skills.
Sharon was introduced to the ESB at the Junior Girls’ School, and had so much fun preparing for the examination that she was inspired to complete several more qualifications. Following this, she was asked by the ESB to become one of their Ambassadors. Sharon’s account of her ESB experience, including all she has learned from it, has been published on the ESB’s website. Sharon has also been filmed giving an interview about her involvement with ESB.
Talking about her appointment, Sharon said, “I wanted to be an ESB Ambassador so that I would have the chance to inspire students to reach their full potential by being a part of ESB and together we could all enjoy the many benefits that ESB has to offer. It improves confidence, communication, networking and presentation skills. Being an ESB Ambassador is a fantastic opportunity for me to show my enthusiasm for the English language and develop positive lifelong attitudes.”
In November, Sharon will attend the ‘Young Speaker of the Year’ award ceremony, where she will receive an award for becoming an ESB Ambassador. This will be presented by Education Yorkshire stars Mr Burton and Musharaf.
As well as her new role as an ESB Ambassador, Sharon is a member of the England Chess Team and is currently the England Youth Chess Champion. She recently won the Channel 4 Mensa Child Genius 2014 competition.
