Fireworks Display Brightens Wet Evening

Sunday, 08 November 2015

In spite of the grim weather, there was a fantastic turn-out to this year’s annual Girls’ Division Parents’ Association Firework Display.

Some of the eighteen stalls moved into the recently refurbished dining hall to shelter from the rain and there was buzz as children and parents bought sweets, popcorn and candyfloss. They could also pick up hot food and drinks from the refectory to stay warm. Young Enterprise project Oh Crumbs! had a stall selling jars of baking ingredients, and the Parents’ Association Luxury Puddings were also on sale. There were also a number of games to play, from a Minions Raffle to hoopla.

Outside on the netball courts, students braved the rain to provide live music, including an upbeat Michael Jackson medley.

The fireworks themselves were fantastic and children and parents alike enjoyed watching the display. The atmosphere on the netball courts and in the dining hall was upbeat and, although umbrellas and hoods were up for the event, it was clear that everyone had a good time regardless of the wet weather.
