Year 7 Girls at Bolton School have taken part in a Francovision song contest as part of their French studies. Francovision is the girls' take on the Eurovision song contest but in French!
At the start of the year, each Year 7 form was given a different song in French and were told that their task was to perform this song in French in a music video. This year's theme was the musical Mamma Mia. Although it was a lot of fun for the girls, the work involved in preparing for this was colossal. First, the girls had to decipher the lyrics of the songs in order to be able to pronounce them correctly. Then, they had to understand the key message of the song and finally plan and produce a music video which would involve everyone in their form. Not an easy task, but the Year 7 girls rose to the challenge. Each entry was then shown to the girls during an assembly and the girls were then asked to vote for their favourite performance. 7G was this year's winner with their entry 'Dis oui, dis oui, dis oui'.
Head of French in the Girls' Division, Mr Fico, commented: "I have been very impressed by the quality of the girls’ videos and their excellent team work. The competition has been a resounding success and we all look forward to the 2017 entries!"
