"Bolton School was such a large part of my life. I can safely say that I would not be doing what I do for a living if it wasn’t for the vibrant arts scene at the school and the encouragement that I was given."

Girls Excel in National French Spelling Bee Final

Thursday, 07 July 2011

Three Year 8 girls, Molly Dick, Francesca Adams and Anjali Anicatt have performed outstandingly well at the national final of a French Spelling Bee competition

The final took place at Homerton College, Cambridge and the girls put up stiff competition against at least 30 other competitors taking turns to translate and then spell (using the French alphabet and accents) a random selection of 200 words.

All three girls made it to sudden death for a chance to compete in the grand final. They performed superbly and Francesca made it through to represent Bolton School in the grand final, eventually coming in 2nd place out of a total of around 35,000 students who entered the competition back in September. She ultimately just missed out on 1st place in another sudden death situation!
