A team of Y10 girls from Bolton School Girls’ Division will represent Greater Manchester, alongside teams from Cheadle Hulme and Withington Girls’ School, in the North West Young Enterprise Regional Final which will be held at Lancaster University Management School on the 8th May.

Mrs Foster, who oversaw their entry, said: “The pupils have performed extremely well. Of the twelve teams competing in the Greater Manchester Final, held at the Oldham University Campus, the girls calling themselves ‘Explore’ were the only Y10 team – all other teams were comprised of Y12 students. They also had the unenviable task of presenting first to the judges and the audience. They certainly rose to the challenge and gave an excellent and memorable presentation that impressed the judges who made them worthy runners up behind Cheadle Hulme. We look forward now to the regional final at Lancaster.”

The Greater Manchester Final involved winning teams from across the borough. 'Explore' had earlier competed in the Bolton and Bury Area Final held at Bolton College. On that occasion, they were joined by another Y10 team from the Girls’ Division, Bean & Co. Again, of the eight teams participating, half of the teams were sixth formers. Both Bolton School teams gave an excellent account of themselves during the event and were judged on a number of criteria including: a team interview in front of a panel of judges from banks and local businesses; the quality of their business report; their digital presence; and a presentation. On this occasion Explore was awarded first prize for their presentation and the title of Company of the Year.

Team Explore has also been awarded second place nationally for their trade stand.
