Girls Represent Bolton in Gtr Manchester Cross-Country

Several cross-country athletes from Bolton School Girls’ Division represented Bolton Town Cross Country team at the Greater Manchester Championships held recently at Heaton Park. Isabella Backhouse, Olivia Highton and Lucy Pickett from Y7, Freya Taylor from Y9 and Lucy Dixon from Y10  all represented the town team. In the Y7 race, Olivia Highton finished in 18th place whilst Lucy Pickett finished in a very commendable 33rd place. In the Y9 event, Freya Taylor was placed 59th whilst in the Y10 competition, Lucy Dixon ran an exceptional race to finish in 2nd place. Commiserations went to Elena Bartalotta who was unable to run on the day due to illness and to Isabella Backhouse who became unwell during her race and was unable to complete the course. 

As a result of her top 8 finish, Lucy Dixon qualified for the English Schools’ Cross Country Finals which will be held in Liverpool in March. 

Overall, the Year 7 girls’ Bolton town team finished in 2nd place, the Year 8 and 9 girls' team finished in 7th place and the Year 10 girls' team finished in the top spot.
