"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

Girls See the Beauty of Maths in OUP Photo Competition

Friday, 30 March 2012

Pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 at Bolton School Girls' Division have shown real imagination and flair in their entries to a Maths Photography Competition run by the Oxford University Press (OUP).

The girls were asked to submit a picture that somehow related to something mathematical and were allowed to use up to 20 words in their caption. You can see many of their submissions on the OUP site here.

Head of Mathematics in the Girls' Division, Mr Grant Heppleston, was delighted with the standard of entry and commented: "We were very impressed by the thought and creativity that went into the girls' entries and we are delighted to see so many entries on the OUP's website."

The winners will be announced by the OUP in the middle of April.
