Bolton School was proud to host the Greater Manchester Schools' U14s and U16s' football training session with two Girls' Division players taking part, Lizzie Harkness from Year 9 and Anna Phillips from Year 10. Lizzie plays with Everton and Anna with Manchester City.

The Greater Manchester coaching staff and players made use of the facilities, enjoying a range of drills before playing a training match.

Last year, both Anna and Lizzie were signed up by Premier League football team Tier 1 Regional Talent Centres (RTCs). Lizzie started playing football when she was 6 year old, progressing to girls’ football with Preston North End at the age of 11. Following a successful trial, she was asked to join Everton ladies to play for their U14s: one of the give regional training clubs in the North West. Anna also started training at 6 and started playing matches at 10: a year before most girls! She flourished under the coaching of Emma Thompson. Last year, she trialled with three Tier 1 clubs and was offered a contract at two of them, choosing Manchester City. Both girls moved on to RTCs after being selected for and representing Greater Manchester Schools U14s.
