Joint Chamber Choir Sings for Charity

Saturday, 16 November 2013

The Joint Chamber Choir, directed by Mrs Whitmore and Mr Ainscough, gave a superb performance at the annual fund raising concert given in aid of ‘Muscular Dystrophy’ at Christ Church, Heaton. They shared the stage with Ellenbrook and Boothstown Brass Band and they played to an audience so large that there were two sittings in the Parish Hall to serve mince pies and wine during the interval.

The mince pies and the Christmas music performed by the band gave the evening an early festive feel. The choir performed some well-known songs including ‘Autumn Leaves’ and ‘Day By Day’ and some less well known songs including ‘Welcome Yule!’ written for the Joint Chamber Choir by John Powell, former director of the choir. There were also some excellent solo performances given by Holly Holt, Felix Roe, Daniel Sharif and Jess Ryan.

Thanks must go to Miss Deady for her help organising the concert and thanks also to parents of the choir members who came to support.

At the end of the concert, representatives from the School were approached by the organisers to try to secure more musicians from Bolton School for their tenth anniversary concert next November.  This was a real tribute to the musicians who performed on Saturday evening!
