Music and Awards on Jubilee Celebration Evening

Bolton School Girls' Division held an evening of music and awards in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Pupils, family and friends were joined in the Great Hall by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton for the concert, which saw a range of talent on display. The Concert Band performed 'Fantasia on British Sea Songs' followed by the Flute Ensemble's rendition of 'The Pink Panther'. True to form, the Jazz Band had the audience toe tapping with their performance of 'Out of the Doghouse'.
Headmistress, Miss Hincks, presented awards gained throughout the year to Year 7 and 8 girls, and they all received a Jubilee mug and coin on the evening as a memento. The girls performed a number of patriotic songs including 'There'll Always be an England', 'Land of My Fathers' and 'Amazing Grace'. The Year 12 Ensemble were also in good voice on the night with their performance of 'Londonderry Air', and not to be outdone, the audience also joined in with all the pupils in a number of songs including 'Jerusalem', 'Rule Britannia', 'Land of Hope and Glory', 'Auld Lang Syne' and a flag waving grand finale of the National Anthem.
