Musical Ensembles Entertain Local Primary Schools
Thursday, 30 June 2016
Junior and Senior Musical Ensembles from Bolton School have been out and about across the local area, performing to local schools. The Joint Junior Orchestra, directed by Miss Deady, performed at Beaumont Primary School on Tuesday 14 June. The ensemble performed ‘The Toreador Song’ and ‘Rum-Bah’ for the audience, before introducing the instruments of the orchestra. They then invited the Beaumont students to join in and play along with both pieces, first on a variety of percussion instruments and then on violin and cello. The morning concluded with a performance of several themes from the Harry Potter movies.
The Boys’ Division Brass Ensemble, directed by Mrs Hughes-Williams, performed at Holy Infant & St Anthony RC Primary School on Monday 27th June. Highlights of the performance included ‘Uptown Funk’, ‘Let Me Entertain You’ and ‘Uptown Girl’. The musicians in the band gave very entertaining demonstrations of their instruments which included trumpets, cornets, tenor horns, trombones and a tuba.
The Junior Concert Band performed at Prestolee Primary School on 28th June and Markland Hill Primary School on 29th June. Once again there were demonstrations of instruments and the band’s highlights included ‘Skyfall’, ‘Firework’ and ‘YMCA’ which featured all the pupils and staff doing the actions.
Boys’ Division Director of Music, Mr Bleasdale, said: “A big thank you to all pupils who have rehearsed and performed at these concerts which are organised in partnership with Bolton Music Service.”
