"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Old Girl Katherine Shines on University Challenge

Tuesday, 03 September 2013

Former Bolton School Girls’ Division pupil, Katherine Monks, was part of the winning University of Liverpool team on University Challenge last night.

Katherine, who is reading Classics at Liverpool, performed outstandingly well for her team who easily beat Keele with an amazing score of 295-40 in their first round match.

She was accompanied on the team by three male students: Captain Chris Spencer, Daniel Jenkin-Smith and Luke Nugent. Katherine’s performance was impressive and she ended the night with nine starters to her name and also stole the final points of the game to further cement the victory!

Katherine left Bolton School in 2012. In an email to her former form tutor at the School, Katherine said: “As you may remember from my time in your form, I love quizzes and volunteering for opportunities. I combined these joys at university as I was selected for Liverpool's ‘University Challenge’ team.”
