Learning for Year 10 BCS and ICT students at Bolton School
Girls' Division came to life when Old Girl Sammie Adams-Mercer
returned to the School to talk about her thriving business,
Live247help.com. Her company offers other businesses web chat
solutions and is a champion of great customer service. Part
of her success is based on delivering detailed statistics
on Customer Relationship Management to her business
clients. Pupils learned how social media plays an increasingly
important role in building company reputation.
Sammie said: "We are ahead of the curve here as more and more
companies, large and small, are beginning to address how they are
perceived through social media. Managing your reputation
online is critical - and far more significant than paying for
traditional advertisements. My company works hard to ensure a
business is well spoken of on the internet and we do this in many
ways including setting up brand ambassadors. It is
our aim that a company has only positive comments 'above the fold'
(visible on the screen)."
Having left Bolton School in 2009 with A levels in ICT, Business
Studies and Theatre Studies, Sammie is now in her final year at
Coventry University where she is studying for a BA in Enterprise
and Entrepreneurship. However, Sammie is putting into
practice what she is learning and, having sold ideas
onwards (look out for the Fresher Starter Packs that are
coming soon to your local Debenhams store), is focussing all her
efforts on her own business, which currently employs three people
and whose clients include Snugg and The Cavern. Once she has
graduated in May, Sammie has big plans to grow her business venture
in the US.
