Record Numbers Attend Open Morning

Bolton School's 2010 Open Morning was a hugely successful event with a record number of families visiting the campus.

Hundreds of parents and children flocked to the School to visit the Nursery, the new Infants' School (Beech House), the new Junior Girls' School (Hesketh House), the refurbished and extended Junior Boys' School and the Boys' Division and Girls' Division senior schools, as well as the two Sixth Forms.

The morning offered a chance for enquirers to learn more about one of the north's pre-eminent independent schools.  The senior schools had a vast array of displays in their Great Halls and each school ran a number of presentations from Head Teachers and pupils.  Senior teaching staff were on hand to answer any questions and the Clerk and Treasurer dispensed information packs about the School's bursaries.  Representatives from the different Parents' Associations were on hand to answer questions, as were Bolton School Old Boys and Old Girls.  Classrooms were open and there was a wide variety of exhibits and demonstrations.  Guided tours were conducted by pupils.

Across the 32 acre campus a variety of sporting activities took place, including football, netball, water polo, basketball, swimming, climbing and lacrosse.  Staff from Patterdale Hall (the School's outdoor pursuits centre in the Lake District) were also on hand with advice and demonstrations.

Visitors were entertained by a whole range of activities, including short drama productions, abseiling, chamber choirs, hands-on science experiments, the chance to produce 3D objects in Technology and bake cakes in Food Technology.

Catering staff were kept busy in the School's Arts Centre, where light refreshments were served to parents and children as they enjoyed the non-stop music provided by the joint concert, percussion and jazz bands.
