On Thursday 5th October, Isobel Garner will give a free talk about ‘Engineering the Building Block of Life’ at Bolton School, starting at 7.00pm.
Isobel studied Civil Engineering and went on to become a Chartered Civil Engineer. Her career then moved into Local Government, ultimately as a Chief Executive with over 6000 staff and a budget of a third of a billion pounds. Now she has a portfolio career working at Board level in organisations such as the Health and Safety Executive, the Wales Audit Office and in Whitehall working with the Secretary of State for Wales. She enjoys encouraging those around her to be bold and grasp life with both hands and also provides career mentoring.
At the heart of it, Isobel remains approachable, enthusiastic and down to earth. During this event, she will talk about grasping opportunities, taking risks, coping with insecurities and dealing with the building blocks of life by sharing stories both serious and humorous about her career and personal journey so far …
She is actually human after all, and has never played a certain video game!
Isobel’s talk is the latest a series of Arts and Sciences Enrichment Lectures organised by the Girls’ Division.
This free event is open to everyone and will take place in the Girls’ Division Great Hall on Thursday 5th October, beginning at 7.00pm. Refreshments will be available beforehand from 6.30pm. Parking will be available in the Girls’ Division Quad, which will be clearly signposted on the night.
