SCITT Trainee Shortlisted in MEN School Awards

Monday, 24 June 2019

Niall Gaffney, who undertook his SCITT at Bolton School, has been shortlisted for the Manchester Evening News’ Student Teacher of the Year Award. The prestigious MEN's School Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Deansgate on Friday 5 July.

Whilst at Bolton School, Niall proved himself as a dedicated linguist. SCITT Coordinator at the School, Ms Marcia Teichman commented that: “During his time at Bolton School, he showed himself to be a very personable and engaging member of the NML SCITT trainee group. He was incredibly organised, positive, and determined, showing excellent subject knowledge, real presence and the ability to enthuse others.  His lessons were thoroughly planned with a range of engaging tasks and elements of differentiation to enable progress from all the pupils in the group. The pupils enjoyed his lessons and responded superbly well to him. He had high expectations in terms of their learning outcomes and their behaviour. His NML SCITT tutors all agree that Niall has the potential to be an inspirational teacher.”
