Bolton School Girls' Division filled the Great Hall with a
magical showcase of music in their annual May Serenade.
The very best of Bolton School's musical talent was on show for
the concert, which involved the Senior Concert
Band, Intermediate Concert Band, Joint Orchestra, String
Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Middle School Choir, Senior Flute
Choir, Junior Chamber Choir, Chamber Choir, Senior Choir and
the Jazz Band.
The Senior Concert Band opened with a lively performance of 'The
Wizard of Oz Meets the Wiz' followed by a moody and atmospheric
'Symphonic Suite' from Star Trek. The String Ensemble gave a
compelling seasonal performance of Vivaldi's 'Birdsong from Spring'
while the Percussion Ensemble impressed the audience with Madonna's
'Crazy for You'. The evening continued with many outstanding
offerings including 'Flying Free' by the Junior Chamber Choir and a
moving rendition of 'Ave Maria' by the Chamber Choir.
Freddie Mercury's 'Somebody to Love' was sung beautifully by the
Middle School Choir and their energetic performance of 'Don't Stop
Believing' had the audience tapping their feet. The Jazz Band
concluded a fantastic evening in style with foot tapping
performances of 'Chips and Salsa' and 'Sway'. A collection at
the end of the evening raised money for SKCV (Street Kids'
Community Villages) in India.
