Senior Girls Go Gold

Wednesday, 28 September 2016

Top athletes from Bolton School Girls' Division have been inspired to aim for the very top after attending this year's GSA's Girls Go Gold conference held at Newcastle High School for Girls.

The keynote speakers were Alex Danson, a member of the recent Gold medal winning Great Britain Ladies Hockey Team, and Dame Sarah Storey, Team GB track cyclist and former multiple Gold medal winner at swimming. GB Bronze medallist Amy Tinkler also presented at the annual meeting which is attended by the country's elite female athletes from independent schools. The day culminated with a questions and answers session compered by former British number one tennis player Annabel Croft who is now a tv and radio presenter.

In between the keynote speeches at the beginning and end of the day, the girls attended a number of practical sessions and workshops focusing on performance analysis, talent transfer and nutrition for health and performance as well as enjoying a session with the Rio Olympics team GB doctor. There were also two practical sessions led by coaches in volleyball and basketball.

Bolton School hosted the Girls Go Gold Conference in 2014.
