Year 10 pupil Shreya Kamath of Bolton School Girls' Division has successfully participated in this year's Under 18 Badminton Inter County Tournament that was held at Nottingham University. Shreya was part of the Lancashire team comprising of 10 players - 5 boys and 5 girls. 32 counties from all over the UK including teams from Wales, Scotland and Ireland participated in this tournament spread over four days.

Due to injuries to some of the top ranked players, Lancashire could not put their best team out this year. Despite this Lancashire finished in 15th position losing some very closely fought matches. Each player can play a maximum of two matches against each county which can be either singles, doubles or mixed doubles game. Shreya played 9 counties involving 18 matches over the four days winning 10 matches for her team.

Her parents said:“Shreya thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to get to know and play some of the top ranked players from UK. She wishes to continue with the training and represent Lancashire for this prestigious tournament again next year for her final Junior tournament before moving up to the senior level. Shreya would like to thank Bolton School for sponsoring her for this event.”
