"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Spanish Film Study Trip for GCSE Girls

Tuesday, 09 February 2016

Year 11 Spanish iGCSE students enjoyed a visit to HOME, a centre for contemporary international film, art and theatre in Manchester, for a film study event. The girls watched "Gente de Bien", an award-winning Columbian film by director Franco Lolli. The film focused on issues such as family, friendship and abandonment and - without giving away the ending - there were a few tears as the titles rolled!

The event was run by Routes into Languages who are based at Manchester Metropolitan University and presented by Dr Carmen Herrero.

Miss Irvine, who accompanied the students, said: "Film study is taken very seriously in the Girls' Division and we hold termly film evenings in all of our languages. The new A Level syllabus will include film study at both AS and A2 level so the girls have been given a good head start!"
