  • NW Regional Summer Swimming Champs medallists Lucy & Elly

Over half term, two Girls’ Division pupils competed at the North West Regional Summer Swimming Championships. These were held at Manchester Aquatics Centre at the end of May.

Lucy Dixon in Year 7 achieved 11 of the 16 qualifying times, but only swam in 9 events as there were heats and finals for the majority of events. Despite tough competition, Lucy made the final for every event she swam in and came in the top three in the North West in four events in the Girls 11-12 years category. She won Silver medals in the 400m Freestyle and 800m Freestyle, and Bronze in the 200m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke.

Following this performance, Lucy has been selected for the England Talent Regional Development Programme! The programme runs three one-day swim camps between July and December, and is for the eighteen top ranked swimmers in the North West.

Elly Fraser in Year 8 also swam at the North West Regional Summer Swimming Championships in the Girls 13-14 years category. She came in the top three in the North West in three events, winning a Silver medal for 100m Breaststroke and Bronze medals for 200m Breaststroke and 50m Breaststroke.

She also achieved British National Qualifying Times for her medal-winning events.
