The Under 13 Netball Team has continued Bolton School Girls’ Division’s winning streak in the Bolton Schools’ Netball Tournament. The Under 16, Under 15 and Under 14 teams had already won in their age categories, so the Under 13 team had everything to play for to continue the run of wins.
The girls played strongly throughout their opening matches in the competition, winning by a large margin in their opening matches against St Catherine’s Academy, Thornleigh, Kearsley Academy, Ladybridge High School and ESSA. Their defence was also excellent, and they conceded no goals in these games.
In the semi-final, they played against Rivington, where they won once again with 8 goals to 2.
The Bolton School team then faced rivals Turton in the final. The match was closely fought throughout and when the final whistle blew, the teams were at a tie. This dramatic game therefore went into extra time, with two extra minutes played each way. The Bolton School girls battled it out in those few additional minutes to emerge victorious with a final score of 7-5!
The girls were delighted to continue the School’s winning streak and return with the trophy.
The final age group of the Bolton Schools’ Tournament will be played next week, and the Under 12 team of Year 7 pupils are looking forward to the challenge.
The victorious Under 13 team was made up of eight Year 8 pupils: Jessica-Rose Curtis-Walker, Bella Forshaw, Charlotte Hughes, Lizzy Lees, Anna Phillips, Jennie Taberner, Sarah Walker and Lizzy Warburton.
