Victoria Wong in Year 11 is one of fifteen students nationally chosen as the first members of a new Student Advisory Group launched by the examination board AQA.

Following a rigorous selection progress she was invited to join the group, which is mostly made up of Sixth Form students. The group will meet three to four times a year and provide AQA with students’ insights and perspectives on key areas of assessment, such as the use of technology and the design of question papers.

Victoria attended the launch of the Student Advisory Group at a Parliamentary Reception with the theme ‘Celebrating student voice in the exam system’. This was her opportunity to meet the rest of the students as well as mingling with MPs, Peers, guests from the wider education community and AQA staff.

Speaking about the launch event, Victoria said: “The evening was spent in the House of Commons familiarising ourselves with the other members of the Student Advisory Group as well as AQA staff and various people who worked in education. I had a wonderful time conversing with both AQA executives, directors of education and especially the CEO himself! The meaningful discussions we had were enriching, impactful and showed their desire for youth involvement. I feel fortunate that I have the opportunity to share my insight and of those around me, including people at this school!”

AQA is the UK’s largest provider of academic qualifications for schools and colleges and the first exam board to establish a Student Advisory Group.
